Le micro-contrôleur sans fil Kinetis KW2x Freescale étend la famille des micro-contrôleurs Kinetis à succès, reposant sur un cœur CPU ARM Cortex-M4. Le Kinetis KW2x intègre un émetteur-récepteur de pointe à 2,4 GHz RF, un cœur ARM Cortex-M4 et un ensemble de fonctionnalités solides pour donner une solution sans fil IEEE 802.15.4 fiable, sécurisée et de faible puissance. Ces micro-contrôleurs sans fil proposent jusqu'à 512 ko de mémoire flash, 64 ko de RAM et jusqu'à 64 ko de mémoire Flex. La prise en charge Dual PAN permet au système de prendre part à deux réseaux ZigBee simultanément, ce qui élimine le besoin de radios multiples. Les piles de protocole logiciel, les outils et l'environnement IDE sont compatibles avec les micro-contrôleurs Kinetis. Le logiciel de protocole ZigBee est intégré de façon transparente aux outils de développement logiciel Kinetis pour créer rapidement des systèmes embarqués. Parmi les applications classiques : les réseaux résidentiels constitués de compteurs, passerelles, écrans à domicile et électroménager connecté, mais aussi les applications de domotique et de contrôle de bâtiments en réseau comprenant le contrôle de l'éclairage, de la climatisation et de la sécurité.
