Analog Devices / Maxim Integrated MAX17523 Over Voltage & Over Current Protection
Analog Devices MAX17523 Adjustable Over Voltage and Current Protection IC protects systems against positive and negative input voltage faults up to ±40V. This device features low 190mΩ (typical) RON-integrated FETs. The adjustable over-voltage range is between 6V and 36V, while the adjustable under-voltage range is between 4.5V and 24V. The thresholds of overvoltage-lockout (OVLO) and under-voltage lockout (UVLO) are set using optional external resistors. The factory preset internal OVLO threshold is 33V (typical), and the internal UVLO threshold is 19V (typical). The MAX17523 also features programmable current-limit protection up to 1A. When an overcurrent event occurs, the device can be set for auto-retry, latch-off, or continuous fault response. Once the current reaches the threshold, the MAX17523 turns off after 21ms (typical) blanking time and stays off during the retry period when set to auto-retry mode. The device latches off after the blanking time when set to latch-off mode. The device limits the current continuously when set to continuous mode.
The Analog Devices MAX17523 Current Limiter is in a small, 3mm x 3mm TQFN-16 package. The device operates over the -40°C to +125°C extended temperature range.
