Robust Diodes Incorporated New ZXGD3009 Gate Drivers Available from Mouser

January 7, 2015 - Mouser Electronics, Inc. is now stocking the new ZXGD3009 High Speed Non-Inverting Gate Drivers from Diodes Incorporated. These rugged gate drivers boast a near-zero quiescent supply current and can transfer up to 1 Amp peak source/sink current into the gate for effective charging and discharging. They are designed to withstand harsh environments, ESD spikes, and latch-up conditions.

The new Diodes Incorporated ZXGD3009 High Speed Non-Inverting Gate Drivers, available from Mouser Electronics, are robust gate drivers designed for the rapid switching of MOSFETs under harsh conditions. These gate drivers can withstand electrostatic discharge shocks of up to 4,000V (HBM) without harming the device. A wide supply voltage allows for up to 40V drive voltage. These drivers can typically drive 500mA into the low gate impedance with just a 10mA input, allowing direct drive from an output pin from most microcontrollers. This reduces bill of materials cost by eliminating the need for an intermediate buffer.

These new gate drivers require a minimum of external components, with a pinout configuration optimized for simplifying printed circuit board layout, along with the added advantage of reducing parasitic trace inductances. The turn-on and turn-off behavior of the controlled MOSFET, including ramp-up and ramp-down times, can be modified to suit individual applications. This allows fine-tuning the developer's circuit so that electromagnetic interference and cross-conduction problems can be reduced or eliminated. The emitter-follower is designed to tolerate, and be immune to, potential latch‑up or shoot‑through situations.
