Texas Instruments DACx0508 Octal 16/14/12-Bit Voltage-Output DACs
Texas Instruments DACx0508 Voltage-Output Digital-to-Analog Converters (DAC) deliver a 2.5V, 5ppm/°C internal reference. This feature dismisses the need for an external precision reference. The DACx0508 provides 8-Channels with a True 16, 14, or 12-Bit resolution. Full-scale output voltages of 1.25V (gain=½), 2.5V (gain=1), or 5V (gain=2) are provided by user-selectable gain configuration. Additionally, the DACx0508 offers high linearity of ±1LSB INL, is specified monotonic, and operates from a single 2.7V to 5.5V supply.The 4-wire interface supplies communication to the DACx0508 and operates at clock rates up to 50MHz. A serial interface is enabled via the VIO pin with operation from 1.7V to 5.5V. The versatile interface allows the device to operate with various industry-standard microprocessors and microcontrollers. The device integrates a power-in-reset circuit that powers up and maintains the DAC output. This output maintains at either zero scale or midscale until a valid code is written to the device.
The Texas Instruments DACx0508 is ideal for battery operated-equipment, consuming a low current of 0.6mA/channel at 5.5V. A per-channel power-down option reduces the DACx0508 current consumption to 15µA. A wide operating temperature range of –40°C to 125°C is characterized for the DACs, offering availability in small packages.
