EPCOS / TDK E Series Multilayer Varistors
EPCOS / TDK E Series Multilayer Varistors feature high energy absorption capability, low leakage current, high-temperature versions, and stable protection level. These varistors offer bidirectional clamping and no temperature derating up to 125°C. These devices are designed for transient overvoltage protection in automotive applications. EPCOS / TDK E Series Multilayer Varistors are ideal for use in engine management, airbags, control units, electrohydraulic brakes, ABS/ESP, sunroofs, load dump-protection, and jump-start protection.Features

Electrostatic discharge (ESD) devices are fast and high voltage transients. ESD transients are frequently caused by touching a device or by contact with fingers. More than 15kV can be charged in a human body, thus a protection device for ESD requires withstanding high voltage and very short response time. EPCOS / TDK CTVS E Series Multilayer Varistors for automotive applications provide highly reliable ESD protection up to 30kV, according to IEC 61000-4-2, level 4 (8kV contact, 15kV air). The response time is <0.5ns.
