TI's SimpleLink Multi-Standard SensorTag Development Kit for the IoT Now Shipping from Mouser
Connects Sensors to the Cloud in Minutes
June 24, 2015 - Mouser Electronics, Inc. is now stocking the SimpleLink™ multi-standard SensorTag development kit (CC2650STK) from Texas Instruments (TI). Enabling quick and easy integration of sensor data with wireless cloud connectivity, the SensorTag helps jump-start development for Internet of Things (IoT) applications by offering flexible development with multiple wireless connectivity options, including Bluetooth® low energy (BLE or Bluetooth Smart), 6LoWPAN and ZigBee®. SensorTag application technology enables developers to get sensor data online and up to the cloud in less than three minutes.
The TI SimpleLink SensorTag, available from Mouser Electronics, comes equipped with a SimpleLink CC2650 ultra-low power wireless microcontroller - a 48MHz ARM® Cortex®‑M3 core paired with a 2.4 GHz RF transceiver compatible with Bluetooth Smart, ZigBee, 6LoWPAN and other IEEE 802.15.4 protocols. This wireless microcontroller platform provides very low power, and along with a low active RF and run current requirements, the SensorTag provides 75 percent lower power consumption than previous Bluetooth Smart products.
The SensorTag is ready to use out-of-the-box with iOS and Android apps. Developers can change between different 2.4 GHz technologies by simply loading new software images directly from the SensorTag app over-the-air with no programming experience required. The kit includes 10 on-board, low-power sensors including a 9-axis motion sensor (gyroscope, compass and accelerometer), altimeter/pressure sensor, digital microphone and magnet sensor plus support for many other low-power sensors.
TI's SimpleLink SensorTag is now available for purchase through the Mouser Electronics website, and includes the CC2650 SensorTag with enclosure, a CR2032 battery, a Quick Start Guide and iOS and Android apps (downloadable from the App Store and Google Play). This complete development system also includes a free Code Composer Studio™ integrated development environment (IDE) license, as well as many other resources available online through the TI website. The CC2650STK allows development for a broad array of Internet of Things (IoT) and energy harvesting applications within the wireless, medical, consumer electronics, hobbyist, portable device and sensing and instrumentation markets.
